Cooking / Catering

Each evening we provide dinner for volunteers staying in the Sportzentrum. If you would be willing to lead / coordinate the cooking of an evening meal for the volunteers, or assist with preparation or cleanup, please let us know here! We’ll only request your help if it doesn’t clash with any of your other duties!

Trail Fitness

We have a number of roles which require a desire to be on the trail all day, and a few of our checkpoints are accessible only on foot. Let us know your trail fitness here so that we can allocate a role that is comfortable for you! Thank you.

MARKING: I’d love a full day out on the trails to mark the race route (requires following a GPS route, and confidence to be alone in the mountains).

SWEEPING: I’d be happy to sweep a section of the race. Sweepers are sent out in pairs, and follow the slowest runners of that section, confidence on mountain trails is required.

DEMARKING: I’d be happy to demark a section of the race after the runners have passed. Can be completed alone or slowly with friends or family as a day hike.

MOUNTAIN CHECKPOINTS: I’d be happy to walk 1-2 hours to reach the checkpoint from the nearest access point.

VALLEY CHECKPOINTS: I’d prefer to be at a valley checkpoint accessible by car/bus/train with minimal walking.

REGISTRATION/START/FINISH: I’d prefer to be based in Grächen without the need to travel.

Languages

All of our checkpoints are either in German speaking Switzerland or Italy. It is really helpful to know in advance if you have any skills in these languages! Of course other languages are also very important, but this question is specifically for communication at the checkpoints! Thank you.

Medical Insurance

We need to check all our volunteers are adequately covered by medical/travel insurance. If you are out on the trail, away from a village, at any point during the race (eg marking, sweeping, demarking, walking up to a checkpoint) then you also need to make sure you are covered for helicopter rescue which is not free in Switzerland and Italy, in case of any accident. This is the same requirement as for all the runners. If you are in a valley base please make sure you have your normal travel / medical insurance. If you are in any doubt check the ITRA insurance which gives a very reasonable annual policy: https://itra.run/Runners/AboutInsurance

I confirm I will have the necessary medical or personal accident insurance (also to cover helicopter rescue if needed) in Italy and Switzerland as applicable.
